Framelits for Father’s Day

June 8, 2012

Usually I keep men’s cards very simple – not too many layers or embellishments, My Father’s Day card today though, strays a little from those design principles. The combination of the Open Sea stamp set (W123030 or C123032), the new Labels Collection framelit dies (125598) and the Well Worn papers (122359 – get yours as part of the Buy 3, Get 1 Free offer), work so well together that I think that you can layer them up and still not be too overdone or fussy for a man’s card.

The wood grain paper was run through the Stripes embossing folder (12328) to give a panelled look and Artichoke Denim Jean ribbon (125054) was wrapped around the join in the papers to give a more finished look. To give the impression of a narrow border mat behind the main image and sentiment, two each of the same size framelits were die cut from Not Quite Navy card, cut apart diagonally and adhered direct behind the  main images. Silver brads secure the compass centre and the cut out anchor, adding a little masculine embellishment.

The inside was kept simple with stamped sentiments and edging.

I’ll be back with an Open Sea online class very soon, so please keep stopping by.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Sara xx
