Men’s cards, Halloween and Easy Christmas

September 1, 2012

As promised, I’m back already with a small selection of samples made using the new Autumn Winter goodies – to tempt you Wink

First up are these cute little owl cards that I made for our swap at team training last week. I think these work well as men’s cards, although it’s easy to make them more feminine, simply by “dressing” the owl with different paper and maybe changing the colour of the sentiment mat.

The tree was made by embossing the Early Espresso Core’dinations card (127848) with the Woodgrain embossing folder (127821). This new cardstock (also available in Cherry Cobbler and Gumball Green) is a special sandable card stock designed to give a distressed look by tearing or, as here, sanding. When used with the embossing folders and sanded it really helps the embossed design to “pop”. I’ll be back with a few tips on working with this cardstock soon.

When you open the card, the owl is sat on a branch punched using the existing Bird Builder punch (117191) from Gumball Green card, one of our new 2012-13 In Colors (more on the full range of these in the coming days). The more masculine waistcoat is punched from the new Orchard Harvest set of papers (126895) and the eyes are Googlies (127539) – so cute!  The Googlie eyes come in packs of 50 and are already adhesive-backed, just like our Pearls and Rhinestones.

Here’s the full batch of swap cards:

Next we have a quick Halloween project, perfect for treats for the kids, grandkids or even just big kids Wink.

The Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit (126914) used to make this treat bag is £7.25 and comes with:

  • 20 double sided tags; 10 each of 2 designs;
  • 10 glassine bags with dies cut edges
  • 50 googlie eyes
  • 10 pieces Pumpkin Pie/Whisper White Baker’s Twine

I ran the glassine bag through the same Woodgrain embossing folder used for the owl cards and stamped the Frankenstein from the Googly Ghouls stamp set (W128060 and C128063) on the tag. The stamp set can be bought together with the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit to save you an extra 15% (one of a number of great discount bundles in this catalogue).

Finally today, I have a quick Christmas card, perfect for total newcomers to crafting, scrapbookers or those who need something extra quick to keep in as an emergency Christmas card kit.

The Noel Notes Simply Sent kit (127884) (£12.50 and makes 8 cards) comes with:

  • 8 die-cut cards
  • 8 Very Vanilla die cut card liners
  • 8 Very Vanilla envelopes
  • 8 designer printed envelope liners
  • 8 pieces of Gumball Green Taffeta Ribbon

Simply insert a trimmed photo in the front or stamp the card liner. There is a Traditional Touches stamp (W128018) suggested for use with the kit (with 10% off the bundle of the two) or you can use stamps from your existing stash. Here I used the family stamp from the retiring Welcome Christmas (W118736 or C120597) stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.

Hopefully this little buffet of projects has wetted your appetite and if I can help you place an order (email me or give me a call on 0775 1133886), then please remember that I’m also offering  free postage direct to your home, on any orders over £30 (that’s a saving of £4.95!) placed with me during September. Please note that this offer is unique to me and may not be available from other demonstrators.

Are you on my mailing list yet? I’ll be sending my twice monthly newsletter out tomorrow, with an exclusive project using more goodies from the Autumn Winter Catalogue. If you don’t already get my newsletter then just use the sign up box at the top of the page to subscribe for free.

Have a great weekend.

Sara xx
