A birthday card for Dad

September 18, 2012

Today is my Dad’s birthday and so my share for you this time, is my card to him.

I decided to go with Need for Speed (W122715 or C122717) as the main stamp set, as it’s such a good set for masculine cards. Instead of the car though, which is an easy choice, I figured I’d challenge myself a little and use the plane. I tried to stamp them as though on a fly-by salute. I know nothing about such things, so I just hope I came close Smile

The card base is a sort of variation to the joy fold card, with a large A5 card landscape card in Basic Gray textured card (before it retires!), cut short halfway across the front. This was matted with Twitterpated DSP (retired?). For the main panel on the front the plane was stamped in Basic Black, masked and stamped twice more. The planes were coloured with Watercolour Wonder Crayons (Neutrals 119805) and shaded with the help of a Blender Pen (102845). Scallop Circles (119854) punched from scrap were then used with a Sponge Dauber and Bashful Blue ink to create the cloud background. This main image was matted onto plain Baisc Gray card an then Lucky Limeade card. A small sentiment square is used to “latch” the front of the card shut. Petite Pairs (W122495 and C122497) and For My Family (W124403 or C124405) were combined to create the sentiment and matted and layered as for the main image panel.

On the inside, the sentiment from Delightful Dozen (W122650 or C122652) was selectively inked with a marker and stamped onto a Whisper White panel slightly smaller than the front image panel so that it doesn’t show when the card is closed.

I’ll be back tomorrow to share the matching gift wallet.

Sara xx
