Golden lace to celebrate a special birthday

December 27, 2012

50 birthday close up

A very sweet and lovely friend of mine had her birthday on Christmas Eve (the same date as my late gran Smile), it was a very special birthday and now that the fuss of Christmas is starting to settle down, I can share the card I made for her.

And yes, I have gone rather overboard with the tools I used, after all if you can’t go mad for a special birthday, then when can you?

50 birthday card

The base card is a large square of Soft Suede, matted with Very Vanilla and then Brushed Gold card. A Paper Doily (125592) was die cut from Very Vanilla card and adhered centrally. The Happy Birthday sentiment from Memorable Moments (W126680 or C126682) was stamped in Versamark, heat embossed with Gold EP, die cut out with the Bitty Banner framelits (129267), shaped and popped up at the top and bottom of the doily with dimensionals. The “special number” (from the same stamp set) was stamped onto Very Vanilla card with Soft Suede ink and was semi-hidden behind a circle Peekaboo Frame (124587) die cut from Champagne Glimmer paper (127885).

Subtle – don’t you think?

50 birthday window message

Such a good excuse for the Peekaboo die and now I’m all set ready to make next year’s advent calendar!

I’ve posted a pic of the inside of the card on my Facebook page.

Hope you had a great birthday and I’ll see you soon Catherine!

Sara xx
