Aviary birdcage birthday card

May 17, 2013

This birthday card uses a selection of Scallop Trim mats (measurements here) to frame the caged birds. As there isn’t too much space behind the frames for extra layers, the background was textured for added interest.

The card base is an A6 portrait of Regal Rose (a retiring colour – don’t miss out, stock up now). After stamping the sentiment from Bring on the Cake (W1121899 or C121958) in Early Espresso ink, the card front was run through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (117335). Decorative mats were punched from Early Espresso card using the Scallop Trim Border (118402) and Scallop Trim Corner (118870) punches. Decreasing mats were cut from Daffodil Delight and Whisper White card. A mixture of cages from the Aviary set (W116956 or C120462) were stamped onto the mats using Early Espresso ink and then the birds, using Regal Rose ink. (You can’t tell which was stamped first but it’s easier to position the cage first and then the bird Smile). The smaller cages were adhered direct to the card front and then the long cage was popped up on dimensionals.

For the Whisper White insert, another sentiment from Bring on the Cake was stamped in Early Espresso ink and then a row of birds was stamped along the bottom using Regal Rose ink.

Have a great weekend.
