Masculine Wetlands banner card

February 27, 2014

Today I have a masculine card for you that is simple and quick to put together. Great for when a birthday creeps up on you by surprise Laughing – does that happen to anyone else?

The card base is an A6 portrait gatefold of Midnight Muse, matted with panels of Midnight Muse paper from the 2012-14 In Color Paper Stack (130137). Using Chocolate Chip ink, the small birds and the corn from the Wetlands stamp set (Wood 126695 or Clear 126697) were stamped onto Very Vanilla card (the corn was stamped a few times without reinking in between). The sentiment from the same set was stamped in Midnight Muse ink onto Very Vanilla card. All the stamped pieces were die cut out with the 2nd smallest Banner (132173). Two of the 3rd smallest banners were die cut from Sahara Sand card and another from Marina Mist. The birds and the corn were adhered direct to the Sahara Sand banners and then adhered direct to the left card front, top and bottom (take care not to apply glue to the area of the banner that overhangs). The Marina Mist banner was adhered direct to the right hand card front, evenly spaced between the others. After threading a Naturals Designer Button (127554) onto Linen Thread (104199), the thread was wrapped around the sentiment banner a few times and secured on the back and the sentiment then popped up on dimensionals on the Marina Mist banner.

For the insert, the corn from the Wetlands set was stamped again using Chocolate Chip ink onto Very Vanilla card and the sentiment from Bring on the Cake (Wood 128490 or Clear 121958) was stamped with the same ink.

Now I’m off to check my birthday list a bit closer!

You card is still golden here in 2018! Needed a birthday card for so my son-in-law and this struck me as perfect. I don’t own the Wetlands stamps but I had an older SU set “Of the Earth” that worked. And I had the SU paper so it was pretty easy to CASE. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Hi there. I’ve had a few questions about the measurements for this card so here we go.
I cut the card base to half A4 and then trimmed the long edge to 8″ to make the measuring easier (the total card base is 5-3/4″ x 8″). Score at 2″ and 4″ along the long edge to make the gatefold.
    The outer banners are 1-7/16″ x 2-7/8″.
    The inner banners are 1-1/16″ x 2-1/4″.
    Hope this helps 🙂
