Summer Silhouettes sympathy card

I’m sure that I’m not unusual in disliking creating sympathy cards, but they are so important that I also don’t like to buy them ready made, as it seems so impersonal. To make the job easier and have a sympathy card on hand, I decided to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) an existing card, opting for one with a simple design and few layers.

The original card was created by Stampin’ Up! as a thank you card:

I then used this as a basis for creating my sympathy card, switching in a slightly greyer shade of green:

The card base is an A6 landscape of Smoky Slate. A mat of Whisper White card was stamped repeatedly with the leaves from Summer Silhouettes (Wood 132082 or Clear 126447), in Wild Wasabi ink, working diagonally across the card and stamping twice before reinking. The (partial) sentiment from Express Yourself (hostess set  Wood 130336 or Clear 130339was stamped in Versamark ink (102283and heat embossed with Wild Wasabi EP (123224) onto a narrow strip of Smoky Slate card, before adhering this close to the bottom of the mat. An even narrower strip of Basic Black card was adhered below the sentiment and the mat centred direct to the card front.

On the Whisper White insert, the leaves were stamped again, twice, with the Wild Wasabi ink. A sentiment from Love & Sympathy (Wood 128652 or Clear 122797) was stamped in Smoky Slate ink.

Do you have any tips to share for making sympathy cards easier to tackle? If so then please leave them in a comment.
