Quick, flat Festival of Trees cards for posting

December 18, 2014

Yelp! I started making my Christmas cards over six months ago but I’m already running out and I haven’t nearly finished writing them all yet. Am I the only card-maker that’s hit this snag?

Admittedly a lot of the cards I made early might be too bulky to go through the post with a standard stamp and since I’ve got to go pay a £1.11 charge to pick up a letter from our Post Office, I don’t want to risk doing that to any of my friends and customers (the postage to me was 11p short but the PO charge a £1 admin fee on top!). Note to self – make more flatter cards next year!

So I whipped up another quick batch of NEARLY FLAT cards last night.

I CASE’d them from a set I’d seen on Pinterest by a talented German demo called Christina Deutesfeld.

I wanted to change mine slightly and so went for a two tone effect – but I think I should have gone for Whisper White and Very Vanilla for the main layers after all – what do you think?

The colour combos are Pear Pizzazz/Old Olive, Crisp Cantaloupe/Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder/Elegant Eggplant.

The card base is an A6 landscape of the paler colour matted with the darker. A panel of the paler colour was punched at one end with the Confetti Stars, then the sentiment and star from Festival of Trees* were stamped in the darker colour before adhering flat to the card front. A Tree* was punched from the darker colour and adhered direct. After stamping the flowery tree with dark ink onto Whisper White card it was punched out with the Tree and popped up on dimensionals (a single popped up layer should be okay). An Itty Bitty Accents star punched from either Silver Glimmer Paper or Gold Glimmer Paper was used to top the stamped tree.

* Buy both the photopolymer stamp set and the punch together as the Festival of Trees Bundle and save 15% – making it £24.95

On the inside, the other half of the sentiment and another tree were stamped in the darker ink.

At least I was able to get a dozen of them made while watching tv. Still more to do though – going to be busy tonight 🙂
