Vertical Greetings with embossing paste

June 30, 2017

One of the new products in the 2017 Annual Catalogue is Embossing Paste (together with a few handy accessories). Initially I was going to steer clear of this because my previous attempts at cake decorating and plastering (really – they are similar!) have been epic fails 🙁

… but I decided to have a go … and I’m so glad I did. Even used plain, out of the pot, the paste adds some real texture and interest. And it wasn’t difficult to use, believe me if I can get good results with it, then anyone can.

It doesn’t take long to dry, I gave it about a couple of hours to be safe but it was touch dry within ten minutes.

The card base is an A6 portrait of Pool Party. A card front layer of Flirty Flamingo was covered with a Pattern Party Decorative Mask and an area masked off before Embossing Paste was applied with a Palette Knife. A sentiment from Vertical Greetings was stamped in Berry Burst ink and a skinny strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper adhered before adding the layer to the card front. A topiary bush from the same stamp set was inked direct to stamp, then “huffed on” to freshen the ink and stamped onto Whisper White card. Tip – to get a better intensity of colour, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz ink pads were used to ink the lower and upper sections of the stamp respectively and then an Early Espresso marker added for the trunks in between. The stamped image was matted onto Pool Party card before popping up on the card front. To finish, a heart from the Subtles Enamel Shapes was added to the topiary.

Sentiments from Beautiful You were stamped in Berry Burst ink on the Whisper White insert.

Have a great weekend.

Sara xx
