20 days of paper projects – day 4

October 15, 2017

It’s Day 4 already of our 20 day series of projects using patterned paper (also known as Designer Series Paper or DSP for short). Today we’re using the paper as a background for die cuts.

When I saw this pattern within the Christmas Around the World pack I thought the snow flurries would make a great background for a snow scene. We’ve used an intricate die cut from the Hometown Greetings Edgelits in this case.

You can also use DSP behind your die cut circles, ovals or squares. If you don’t have a die cutting machine then you could also use the paper behind punched shapes.

The card base is a 5″ square matted with a 4-7/8″ square of Whisper White and a 4-3/4″ square of Christmas Around the World. A piece of 4-3/4″ wide (approx. 3-3/4″ deep) Whisper White card was run through the Big Shot with one of the Hometown Greetings Edgelits (this cut almost to the edges and just a teeny snip was needed to finish the horizon). A sentiment from the co-ordinating Hearts Come Home set was stamped in Smokey Slate ink and the narrowest Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tapes were wrapped below the sentiment before popping the pice up on the card front with Mini Dimensionals to support the houses and tree.

On the Whisper White insert, another sentiment from the set was stamped in Smokey Slate ink. Using Pool Party ink and stamping off first for a paler look, a couple of the houses and trees were stamped in the corner and then Santa was stamped over the top at full strength.

Thanks for stopping by.
