Today is MIL and FIL’s wedding anniversary and so of course – a card to celebrate. As you may know, my MIL doesn’t really like overly sentimental cards and so I wanted to keep a light feel while still acknowledging the date. The owls seemed perfect for the job and as all the real leaves are turning colour I decided to add a similar theme to the card.
Recipe
Stamp sets: Lovely as a Tree (W101223), Something to Celebrate (Level 2 Hostess) (W121897, C121955)
Cardstock: Cajun Craze (121683), Very Vanilla(106550), Chocolate Chip (108599), Whisper White (106549), Basic Black (121688)
Ink: Cajun Craze (119671), Pumpkin Pie (105216), More Mustard (103162), White Signo Gel Pen (105021)
DSP: Sweet and Sour Specialty (117390), Brights Patterns Stack (117155)
Punches: Two-Step Owl (118074), Two-Step Bird (117191)
Bigz Die: Leaves 2 (113459)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Sponge Daubers (102892), Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049)
The card blank is Cajun Craze. A mat of Very Vanilla was stamped with oak leaves from the Lovely as a Tree set, using the rock ‘n’ roll technique with Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze inks. This was then adhered direct to the card front. Branches were punched from Cajun Craze card with the Two-Step Bird and adhered direct. The owls were built up by punching out the various card colours and DSP with the Two-Step Owl, adhering the layers and then popped up on dimensionals. The two large leaves were die cut from Very Vanilla card and sponged with More Mustard and Cajun Craze inks. Using the stamp-a-ma-jig, the sentiment was selectively inked and stamped a word at a time onto seperate leaves, which were then popped up on dimensionals on the card front.

The inside was stamped down one edge using the same stamp, inks and technique as on the front of the card.
MIL and FIL liked the card and I was actually quite flattered that my MIL said “oh, I see, it’s quite simple really isn’t it!”. It just shows how much she’s picked up from the technique classes, lol.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
