Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator

A sad occasion

sympathy card close up

Do you find it difficult to create sympathy cards too?

I hate the occasion for the card and I think it stifles my creativity. And it’s not appropriate (at least in this case), to make the card too fancy. On the other hand it is important to let my friend know I’m thinking of her. Hopefully I’ve got the balance right here.

sympathy card

Recipe
Stamp sets: Love & Sympathy (W122795 or C122797)
Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant (108614), Vellum (106584)
Ink: Versamark (102283)
DSP: Timeless Portrait (122352)
Punch: Extra-Large Oval (119859)
Sizzlits Die: Lots of Tags (114508)
Other: Basic Pearls (119247), White EP (109132)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Heat Tool (110197)

The card base is an A6 portrait of Elegant Eggplant, matted with Timeless Portrait DSP. After stamping the flower in Versamark onto Vellum card, it was heat embossed with White EP and adhered to a mat of Elegant Eggplant with glue dots in each corner before popping up on dimensionals on the card front. The sentiment was also heat embossed in White on Vellum and was then die cut with the fancy oval from the Lots of Tags set. Two more Tags were die cut from Elegant Eggplant card and the centre of one of them punched out with the Extra-Large Oval. The Vellum sentiment was sandwiched between the Eggplant layers and popped up on dimensionals on the card front. Basic Pearls were used to hide the glue dots on the remaining corners.

sympathy card inside

Recipe
Stamp sets: Love & Sympathy (W122795 or C122797)
Cardstock: Whisper White (106549)
SU Markers: Elegant Eggplant, River Rock (119806), Wisteria Wonder (123002)
DSP: Timeless Portrait (122352)

For the inside, the flower was coloured direct to stamp with the River Rock and Wisteria Wonder markers and stamped onto a Whisper White card insert. Part of the sentiment was selectively coloured with the Elegant Eggplant marker and stamped and a strip of DSP adhered across the bottom.

I have a happier occasion as the basis for my project tomorrow so I hope you’ll stop by.

Thanks Hayley and Debby. Your comments have reassured me. Again, I can’t ask my friend “did you like the card?”, it just wouldn’t be right so it’s good to get some feedback from others who understand.

This is simple yet beutiful at the same time …its always a difficult card to do and I speak from experience having just lost a good friend and having to do a card for the family was tinged with sadness.
This is lovely and made with love.
