I’m an auntie!

December 10, 2012

Yes, I’m an auntie for the first time. I have a little nephew, George Edward who was born at 10:35 this morning, weighing 11lbs 1oz! Ouch!

My Mum had asked me to make a small batch of birth announcement cards ready and as this is such a special occasion and as my Mum doesn’t often ask for cards, I made them a little more complicated than usual.

The card base is an A6 portrait of Island Indigo. A mat of Whisper White was partially put through the Big Shot with the Argyle embossing folder and the bottom of the design defined with a scored line. Small images from the Bundle of Love stamp set (W121223 or C121291) were stamped with Black Stazon and coloured in before adhering the layer to the card front. Window Frames Collection framelits (129021) were used to die cut a mat from Whisper White card and a frame from Island Indigo card. The pram and the baby were stamped onto the mat and coloured in and paper pieced. Little bootees were added with Island Indigo Baker’s Twine (125575) before adding all the layers to the card front. The sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners (W126255 or C126257) was stamped onto Pool Party card with Versamark ink and heat embossed with White EP (109132). This was die cut with the matching Bitty Banners framelits (129267) and popped up on the card front with dimensionals.

For the inside a computer generated message was printed out onto Whisper White card. (We knew that the baby was to be a boy and what they wanted to name him – just as well they didn’t change their minds … about the name that is Laughing). The bib was stamped on directly and coloured in. The onesie was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White, coloured in, cut out by hand and then adhered to a “hanger” of a cut down paper clip.

Then I made another five.

Congratulations to my brother and sister-in-law. Hoping that I get to see my little nephew soon.

Congratulations on becoming an Auntie, I am sure the big little one will be spoilt rotten by everyone concerned. He really is a whoppa, I bet it brought a tear to his Mum’s eye.

Thanks Dawn. Yes, he’s their first … and I suspect maybe last child, unless my SIL forgets what the birth of this one was like 🙂
