Washi tape blossom birthday card

August 14, 2013

As with most of the washi tape cards I’ve worked on so far, this birthday card is a quick and easy make.

I’d aimed for an asymmetric arrangement of the tape (so that I didn’t need to measure and be exact) but I wasn’t happy with it when it was finished. The addition of the ribbon added the balance needed, as well as a little extra interest Laughing

The card base is 5″ square of Daffodil Delight. A slightly smaller mat of Whisper White was wrapped around with Gingham Garden Washi Tape (129314) in a diamond pattern. Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (126872) was wrapped across opposite corners and small pieces of the same ribbon tied on and snipped. This layer was then adhered direct to the card front (tip – SNAIL doesn’t adhere so well to the glossy washi tape so I used Sticky Strip for a good bond). The solid flower from the Mixed Bunch set (W128442 or C125537) was stamped in Melon Mambo ink onto Whisper White card, punched out with the Blossom (125603) and popped up with dimensionals in the centre of the card. After stamping the solid centre from the same set in Daffodil Delight ink onto Whisper White card, it was punched out with the 1″ Circle (119868) and also popped up with dimensionals.

The Whisper White insert was stamped with the same flower and ink as for the front, just in the bottom right corner, stamping off the card. The sentiment from Sassy Salutations (W132070 or C126707) was also stamped in Melon Mambo ink.

This card would work equally as a Get Well card. You could partially finish the card and then wait and stamp the sentiment as you needed it for the occasion.
