Tutorial to make popcorn and a movie packet

December 21, 2013

Yesterday I shared a popcorn and movie gift package and today I’m back with a tutorial for how to make it.

score guide

You’ll need the Envelope Punch Board (133774).

In the instructions below, I refer to the score guide – this is the little marker just below the punch mechanism (pictured right).

movie box step 1

Step 1 – Start with a piece of card 9-1/4″ x 9-1/4″. Line up the edge of the card at the 3-3/8″ mark, punch and score, then move to 4-3/8″, punch and score. You’ll run out of board before you get to the edge of the card on the first scoreline but score as far as you are able.

Step 2 – Rotate the card, 180° so that the first set of score lines are bottom left corner. Again line up the edge of the card at 3-3/8″ mark, punch and score, then move to 4-3/8″, punch and score. This is the last bit of measuring you need to do.

Step 3 – Rotate the card 90° and this time line up each of the score lines with the score guide (see above), punch and score again for each line.

Step 4 – Rotate the card 180°, line up each of the score lines with the score guide and punch and score again for both the final lines.

Step 5 – Round the corners  using the the outside punch at the top of the board.

movie box step 6

Step 6 – Snip up/down the scorelines of the tiny small squares at each intersection, only as far as the next scoreline (and tidy as needed – there’s a tiny curve that you may prefer to snip away).

movie box step 7

Step 7 – Adhere ribbon to the centre of the box front. Pop your stamped and matted panels up on dimensionals over the top of the ribbon.

Then turn the whole package over and tie it together with the ribbon.
