On Monday you may have seen that I took part in the SUDSOL Blog Tour. SUDSOL is a great forum for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and one that I turn to often for inspiration. Whenever I need to kick start my mojo or challenge myself to move beyond my usual style, I turn toSUDSOL.
Here I used their weekly sketch challenge to give me a jumping off point into the Retro Fresh suite.
And here’s my card. I think the jumble of patterns works quite well with the sentiment.
The card base is an A6 portrait of Coastal Cabana, matted with Retro Fresh DSP (132993). After stamping the sentiment from Perfect Pennants (Wood 133227 or Clear 133230) onto Very Vanilla card with Tangerine Tango ink it was cut out with a Circles Collection (130911) die and matted onto a larger circle of Tangerine Tango card. A sliver was cut from one side of the matted circles so that they wouldn’t show beyond the top panels and then they were adhered direct to the card front. The two top panels were created by wrapping Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape (133001) around some Very vanilla card and then popping them up on dimensionals on the card front.
A pretty quick and simple card, but it got me mixing patterns much more than I would normally – a definite move beyond my comfort zone
