Snowflake Framelit card

Time again for another Christmas card I think 🙂

Today is a bit of a snowflake themed day. I’ve got a snowflake locket on my South Hill Designs blog today – just click on the link to take a peek.

Although the Letterpress Winter stamp set works very elegantly with the Snowflake Card thinlits, there’s nothing to say that you have to buy both together (but don’t tell DH, heehee) and you can create a beautiful card using just the framelit set. You get a lot of extra framelits as well as the flip card base.

I used a small selection of them for this card.

The card base is a 4″ square of Night of Navy and the teeny snowflake from the Snowflake Card thinlit set was die cut away from each corner to create apertures. (Tip – the dies are quite intricate and so a layer of greaseproof paper or similar between the die and your cardstock helps tease the snowflake out. If the snowflake apertures are just too delicate for you then you could back the card front with a piece of Whisper White card instead). One of the Navy snowflakes was retained to go on the card front. The large snowflake was die cut from Whisper White card, cutting once which gives a partial snowflake, then rotating 90º in the die and cutting again to get the full cut snowflake. This was popped up on dimensionals on the card front. A large snowflake was die cut from Silver Foil and adhered direct to the Whisper White one and then the retained Navy mini snowflake adhered over the top of that. The snowflake was finished by adding a Basic Rhinestone to the centre.

On the inside, the Snow framelit was die cut from the Whisper White insert (tip – remember to stick the centres of the “o” and the “w” back in. Basic Rhinestones were added thought the snowflake apertures on the front so that they are seen when the card is closed.

It’s our Paper Dolls get together tomorrow – looking forward to it!

Have a great weekend.
