Apologies for having been away for so long. I hadn’t planned on taking such a long break from blogging but I have been trying to catch up on much needed housework and decluttering. There’s still a lot to do but at least our guest room is spick and span, freezers are defrosted and restocked with home made potato-topped pies and I’ve started sorting my craft supplies – see towards the end of the post!

This weekend was my Mum’s birthday and so I did take time out to make a card for her. I like to make a larger card usually, but I can only fit an A6 through the Big Shot (the right way round) and so I blinged up this smaller card instead.

The card base is the new thicker/stronger Whisper White, specially designed for card bases. Butterflies from the Bold Butterfly framelits and the Butterflies thinlits were used to partial cut the butterfly shapes along the fold (I’ll be back with a tutorial in a few days) and corresponding stamps from Watercolor Wings were used to stamp the butterflies in place using Blushing Bride/Calypso Coral/Watermelon Wonder and Soft Sky/Bermuda Bay. Early Espresso ink was used to stamp the butterfly bodies and the sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes. The “mum” sentiment was die cut from Watermelon Wonder card (a little cheat that I’ll also share later this week). Using Bermuda Bay ink the border was stamped along both edges of the card. Filigree butterflies were die cut from Vellum yardstick, added over the top of the smaller butterflies and Basic Rhinestones added along the bodies. Dazzling Diamonds were added to the larger butterfly and the “mum” sentiment with Crystal Effects (so that they don’t rub off. Flowers from the Pictogram Punches were stamped in Crushed Curry, punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents punch and teeny flowers were punched from Crushed Curry card with the Tree Builder. Basic Pearls were added to the centres of the flowers.

The inside shows how the butterflies are cut and folded back.

My pre-order from the Autumn/Winter catty (launches Tuesday 1 September) arrives tomorrow so I’ll soon have some new Christmas projects to share with you but meanwhile I have a few of my retired stamp sets for sale on eBay and at the time of posting no-one has bid on this Merry Little Christmas set – perfect for quick Christmas cards 🙂 (Bids close at 7pm tonight).

Where can I get those cute funky little four petaled flower punches. I’ve been looking all over for them!

Hi Donna. The four petaled flowers were from the Itty Bitty Accents punch set but we no longer sell those. You might find one on eBay if you keep scanning for them (I sold mine some time ago). Sorry I can’t help.
