Washi-tape Wednesday – batch borders

Today we’re starting a new feature – Washi-tape Wednesdays!

For the next few months or so we’ll be sharing a new washi-tape project every Wednesday. Washi-tape is easy and quick to use and as it’s Stampin’ Up! you can  of course be sure that it colour co-ordinates with the rest of the range.

I, and a lot of my crafting friends have washi-tape in the craft cupboard but have trouble getting on and using it. Hopefully our new feature will give you plenty of ideas. And if you don’t have washi-tape you may still be able to adapt a lot of the projects to use DSP strips instead 🙂

Our first project uses a full sheet of taped background, cut into strips to create a batch of borders for a set of cards. The black and white tapes are from the Everyday Chic set and the other is from the It’s My Party set.

A Whisper White card insert was simply covered with the tape on a diagonal, butting each new piece up against the last until all the panel was covered. This was then cut into strips to use on the finished cards.

The card base is a small square of Basic Black with the open edge corners rounded with the Project Life Corner. A panel of Whisper White was also rounded on the corners on the right side. Using Hello Honey ink, the solid flower from the What I Love Sale-a-bration set, was stamped in the bottom right corner. Basic Black ink was used to stamp the outline flower over the top and the sentiment. A slim strip of Silver Glimmer Paper was adhered to the left side of the panel, then a teeny strip of Hello Honey, followed by a strip of the washi-tape border. The whole panel was popped up on dimensionals on the card front.

On the Whisper White insert a dinky flower and leaves were stamped in Hello Honey and Basic Black inks.

It was easy to get 12 cards from the one panel.

Please let me know whether you like the new feature. Do you have unused washi-tape laying around?
