At Home birthday card

September 20, 2017

I’ve had the At Home With You bundle since the Annual catalogue came out but it has sat on the shelf because although I love all the different little elements to it, I thought it might be a bit time consuming. Do you ever do that? Am I the only one?

This week I finally made a start on it as I needed a card for my Dad and I wanted something a little bit special. It really wasn’t as time consuming as I thought it would be and I plan to stamp, die cut and colour in a few of the pieces and save them in the stamp box so that I can make a really quick card if needed in the future.

The door on the front swings open …

… to reveal a surprise.

The card base is an A6 portrait of Early Espresso. A layer of Sahara Sand was sponged with Cajun Craze ink through the brickwork Pattern Party Decorative Mask (not just for using with embossing paste) and a strip of Basic Grey card was adhered across the bottom. Using the At Home With You bundle, the door was stamped onto Wood Textures DSP with Early Espresso ink and die cut out and the windows were die cut from the upper part of the door. An outer door piece (without the swing open effect) was die cut from Whisper White card and stamped with the sentiment and gift in Basic Black. The Wood Texture door was adhered over the top of the Whisper White version and then adhered direct to the card front. Lanterns were stamped in Basic Black ink. The ornamental trees were inked with Basic Black for the planters and Garden Green for the shrubbery (I can’t say that without thinking of Monty Python lol). Happy Birthday signs were created for the door and a welcome mat was stamped with Early Espresso ink and die cut from Crumb Cake card. Markers were used to colour all the little elements, keeping to a palette of Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede and Smoky Slate. (I haven’t listed all the markers in the Supply List below but please comment if you want further details about them).

On the Whisper White insert, a sentiment from Celebration Time was stamped in Early Espresso ink.

The little details really make for great scene building with this set.

Thanks for stopping by.
