I have a guest crafter for you today.
My husband makes his own Christmas card to his Mum and Dad and it’s always a special time when we craft together … special and challenging!
The conversation usually goes a little like this:
Husband – Have you got a stamp of Santa on a unicycle, juggling penguins?
Me – No, these are the stamps I’ve got – help yourself (opens cupboard and shows rows of stamp cases).
Husband – (a little later) I’d like a star.
Me – Okay. Well here are the stamp versions and you can also choose from these framelits too.
Husband – Ooh, I like that star (pointing to framelit). Have you got a bigger version of it?
Me – No! It’s that or nothing.
I just love how he thinks I’ve got such specific items for him. I guess maybe it’s because of the number of boxes he sees arriving from UPS 🙂
Anyhow, here is the final version.
The card base is an A6 portrait of Night of Navy. A card front layer of Night of Navy was run through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling embossing folder and adhered direct to the card front. A star from the Starlight Thinlit die set was die cut from Silver Foil and popped up on the card front with dimensionals. A portion of one of the Labels to Love stamps was masked off so that just the Merry Christmas sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy ink onto a strip of Whisper White card. The ends of the strip were flagged and then it was popped up on the card front with dimensionals.
On the Whisper White insert, he stamped the fancy star and a sentiment from the Star of Light set, in Night of Navy ink.
Not quite the card he set out to make originally but I think he made a great job of it and I think his Mum and Dad appreciate that he takes the time to create something just for them.
Thanks for stopping by.
Sara xx
