I recently shared this card (close up detail below) and I’m back now to share how I created my own Shimmer Spray to glitz the background.
To make the spritz you’ll need a few Stampin’ Up! supplies (see below) plus some rubbing alcohol.
Step 1 – Part fill the Stampin’ Spritzer approx. 2/3 full with 70% isopropanol (rubbing alcohol).
Step 2 – Add 2-4 drops of your choice of Shimmer Paint according to the concentration of sheen you want.
Step 3 – Screw the mister back into the Spritzer and shake/rotate the bottle until the paint is fully mixed into the alcohol. If any still adheres to the side of the bottle (as below) then keep mixing.
Step 4 – Spritz the mixture across your cardstock. Please note – spritzing will buckle your card so you will need to let it dry (it doesn’t take long for the alcohol to evaporate) and then either flatten beneath some books to use it smooth, or run it through an embossing folder whilst it is still just slightly damp (this one below was run through the Subtle embossing folder). Don’t worry if the card looks a little splotchy to start, the darker patches will even out as the card dries fully.
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great weekend.
