This rainbow birthday card for Captain Tom Moore is made in the same way as I used scraps for this Stamping Challenge 3 card.
I’m pretty sure that you’ll have heard of Captain Tom by now, but just in case…
He’s an absolute hero who set himself the challenge of walking a hundred lengths of the back garden (which is 25m in length) before he is 100 years old at the end of the April. He initially planned on raising £1000 for the NHS but so far he’s succeeded in raising £29million to date.
I donated at the Justgiving page here and decided to send him a birthday card as well. This is the card.
The card does use retiring products.
Retiring products are available until 2 June or while supplies last. Some products will sell out quickly. If a product picture is missing or the link (below the post) won’t work it is most likely because that item has sold out. Please don’t delay if there’s an item you still want.

INSTRUCTIONS
Start with an A6 landscape card of Basic Black. Take a bunch of strips of card in your colour scheme. In this case it was a rainbow of colours as detailed above. On a panel of scrap card, adhere different thicknesses of strips at a diagonal, varying the colours. Trim away any pieces overhanging the panel. Trim a skinny strip from the panel and retain for the card insert. Using Memento Black ink, stamp a sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays in the bottom right corner of a card front layer of Whisper White. Adhere the panel of strips above the sentiment. Add a skinny strips of Silver Glimmer Paper* above and below the striped panel and adhere the layers direct to the card front.
On the Whisper White insert, use Memento Black ink to add another sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays set in the centre. The Balloon Bouquet punch was used to punch the larger balloon from Real Red card. Using Memento Black ink, stamp “100” from the Make a Difference set onto the balloon. Adhere this direct to the insert. Adhere the retained rainbow strip from the front, near the base of the insert. Using a Basic Black Marker, draw a “thread” from the balloon to the rainbow strip.
If you’d like to send a celebratory card to Captain Tom then this is the address to post it to.
Thanks for stopping by.
