Red velvet snowflake card

September 6, 2020

Today’s red velvet snowflake card gives a total twist on the colours of blue or purple usually used for snowflake style cards. You really can’t tell very easily from the photos but the background is Red Velvet paper, which is so soft to the touch.

Most of the products that Stampin’ Up! carry are part of a particular colour family. This Velvet Paper however is simply labelled “red”. You can see though that it matches with our Real Red very well.

The Snowflake Adhesive-backed Embellishments actually have two shades; one is iridescent and the other is Just Jade. The Just Jade ones have a slight green cast when the catch the light. I used the iridescent version on this card to limit the colour palette.

I’ve already used the Red Velvet Paper previously to create this Santa Mini Curvy Keepsake box.

COLOUR COMBO

Colour combo of Real Red and Whisper White.

This colour combo is a very simple Real Red and Whisper White.

INSTRUCTIONS

Red velvet snowflake card

Start with an A6 landscape card of Real Red. Mat with Whisper White and then Red Velvet Paper direct to the card front. Die cut the fancy rectangle from Whisper White card using the Ornate Layers dies. Using Real Red ink, stamp a sentiment from the Snowflake Wishes set in the centre. Stamp some snowflakes from the same set, around the edges, using the same Real Red ink. Add the red Wonderful Gems to the centres of the snowflakes. Pop the sentiment up on the card front with dimensionals. Finish by adding Snowflake Adhesive-backed Embellishments randomly across the Red Velvet background.

On the Whisper White insert, stamp a sentiment from the Snowflake Wishes set using Real Red ink. Add a scattering of the weeny snowflakes from the same set around the sentiment.
