I have a cute Playful Pet dog birthday card tutorial for you today. I made this project as a swap card for my Paper Dolls team mates this month. The red, grey and black colour combo is taken from the DSP. In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating it. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

I used the Playful Pets suite for a whole Class To Go back in July and for one of my exclusive newsletter projects but I haven’t used it much yet for projects shared to my blog. My hubby did use it to create my birthday card for me ☺️

Colour Combo

The colour combo mixes Real Red, Basic Black and Smoky Slate.

Playful Pet Dog Birthday Card Tutorial

Start with a top folding A6 portrait card of Real Red. Using Memento Black ink, stamp a sentiment from Pampered Pets in the lower right corner. Adhere a short panel of Playful Pets DSP direct to the centre section. Open up the card fully and using the sitting dog from the Pets die set, die cut an aperture through both the card front and DSP layers.

Using the bag handle from the All Dressed Up die set, cut two stitched strips from Smoky Slate card and trim to the width of the card front. Wrap each strip with a different ribbon/twine from the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack before adhering the the edges of the DSP. Add bows of each with a mini glue dot. Using Memento Black ink, stamp the dog bowl from the Pampered Pets set onto a scrap of Whisper White card. Colour with Flirty Flamingo Blends and fussy cut out before popping up on the card front with mini dimensionals.

Playful Pet Dog Birthday Card Insert

On the Whisper White insert, stamp a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays set using Memento Black ink and taking care to stamp away from where the aperture will close. Stamp the butterflies from the Pampered Pets set quite high above the sentiment and colour with the Blends used for the dog bowl. Die cut the sitting dog from the Playful Pets DSP. With the insert in place and the card closed, adhere the dog through the aperture for perfect placement.
