Tutorial for poinsettia anniversary card

September 19, 2020

Today I’m sharing a tutorial for a brightly coloured poinsettia anniversary card. It has a beautiful flocked vellum background. In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating it. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Although the poinsettia is traditionally a winter plant in red or white with green leaves, we can get creative and use any colours we wish. I used the Hippo & Friends die set for the label as it has a great trio of shapes but you could easily substitute other label type dies.

Start with an A6 landscape card of Mango Melody. Adhere a mat of Magenta Madness card direct to the card front. Cut a card front layer of the poinsettia pattern of Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper. Add strong adhesive only in the centre of the vellum and adhere direct to the card front. Adhesive usually shows through vellum but we’ll be hiding it behind the sentiment and flower.

Using Magenta Madness ink, stamp a sentiment from the Many Mates set onto a scrap of Whisper White. Die cut out with an oval label from the Hippo & Friends die set, keeping the sentiment over to the right side. Pop up on the card front with dimensionals. Using Basic Gray ink, stamp the fullest flower from the Poinsettia Petals set and colour with Mango Melody Blends. Die cut out with the co-ordinating Poinsettia die. Pop up on the card front with more dimensionals but adhering flat where the flower overlaps the label. Finish the centre of the flower with one of the Beaded Pearls.

On the Whisper White insert, stamp a sentiment from the Gorgeous Posies set using Magenta Madness ink. Using Basic Gray ink, stamp the smaller, inner poinsettia flower from the Poinsettia Petals set off opposite corners. Add a splash of quick colour by stamping the watercolour style petals using Mango Melody ink.

Thanks for stopping by.
