Tutorial for hand-penned freesia card

May 19, 2021

Today’s tutorial is for a hand-penned freesia thank you card. This monochromatic card uses only a few supplies and is a great design for any beginner. Just choose your favourite In Color.

My Facebook readers recently voted for their favourite new In Color. It was a tie between Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya, so today’s card uses Fresh Freesia.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the hand-penned freesia thank you card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Colour Combo

The colour combo is mainly monochromatic, using Fresh Freesia.

My In Color Club gives you the chance to build your collection month by month so that you have cardstock, ink, colouring media, ribbons and other embellishments in each of the In Colors.

Start with an A6 portrait card of Fresh Freesia. Using Fresh Freesia ink, stamp around the edges with the large flower spray from the Hand-Penned Petals set. On a panel of Basic White, stamp a sentiment, solid flower, stem and leaves from the same set with the same ink. Mat onto Fresh Freesia card. Wrap Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon between the image and the sentiment. Tie on a knot of the same ribbon. Pop up on the card front with dimensionals.

See my quick tip video to see how easy the ribbon treatment is for anyone to follow and there’s a separate quick tip video for stamping the background (please subscribe while you’re over there to see future weekly quick tips – they’re usually under 10 minutes).

On the Basic White insert, stamp the same large flower spray from the Hand-Penned Petals set in opposite corners using Fresh Freesia ink.
