Today’s tutorial is for a shimmer vellum poinsettia xmas card. This is similar to the poinsettia Christmas card made with the Expressions in Ink Specialty DSP but this time we’re swapping in the Tidings of Christmas DSP.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the shimmer vellum poinsettia xmas card. I also have a supply list for shopping for anything you don’t already own.

The Poinsettia dies are perfect for Christmas cards but they can also be used year round to make flowers of all colours for any season.

Colour Combo

The colour combo mixes Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen and Polished Pink.

Shimmer vellum poinsettia xmas card

Start with an A6 landscape card of Evening Evergreen. Cut a card front layer of Tidings of Christmas DSP and adhere direct. Using the Painted Labels die set, die cut a swirly circle label from Evening Evergreen and pop up on the card front with dimensionals.

Die cut and emboss the largest poinsettia from Evening Evergreen Shimmer Vellum using the Poinsettia dies. Curl the petals (see video and please subscribe to my Youtube channel to make sure you see all future quick tips). Die cut and emboss a medium poinsettia from Soft Succulent Shimmer Vellum. Die cut and emboss two smaller poinsettias from Polished Pink Shimmer Vellum. Curl the petals of all. Adhere together directly, offsetting all the petals. Die cut an embossed poinsettia centre from a scrap of Gold Foil. Adhere the flower direct to the centre of the swirly circle label. Pop the gold poinsettia centre up on a mini dimensional. Using the Painted Labels die set, die cut a label from Basic White. Using Evening Evergreen ink, stamp a sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals set onto the label, positioning to the right. Pop up on dimensionals, tucking the left edge under the poinsettia.

On the Basic White insert, stamp another sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set using Evening Evergreen ink. Add a skinny strip of the same pattern of Tidings of Christmas DSP as used on the front, along the base.
