Today’s tutorial is for a whimsy gift Christmas card. This is a variation on a card that I remake year after year with different papers. It works well as both a Christmas card or a birthday card with a simple change of papers.

Each week over on my Facebook page (please pop over and Like or Follow) I choose a product pick of the week to feature. This week, it’s the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP. I’ll have a selection of tutorials for you throughout the week that share different ideas for using this pretty paper on your projects.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the whimsy gift Christmas card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything anything you don’t already own.

The colour combo mixes Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron and Polished Pink.

Whimsy gift Christmas card

Start with an A6 portrait card of Blushing Bride. Cut a card front layer (3-7/8″ x 5-1/2″) of Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP and adhere direct to the card front. Cut a 2″ x 3-1/2″ panel of Basic White card. Using Polished Pink ink, stamp a sentiment from the Sparkle of the Season set at the centre base of the panel. Adhere direct to a 2-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ mat of Blushing Bride. Adhere direct to the card front. Wrap Blushing Bride Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon horizontally and vertically around a 1-3/4″ square of Mint Macaron. Pop up on the card front with dimensionals. Add a tiny bow of the ribbon at the top of the “gift” with a mini glue dot.

Whimsy gift Christmas card insert

On the Basic White insert, using Polished Pink ink, stamp a sentiment from the Whimsical Trees set. Add the holly from the same set to opposite corners of the sentiment with Mint Macaron ink. Adhere a strip of the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP along the base.
