Today’s tutorial is for a velvet cheer birthday card. The Red Velvet Paper is paper pieced to create a beautifully textured dress.
In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the velvet cheer birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.
Colour Combo
The colour combo mixes Red Velvet, Shaded Spruce and Poppy Parade (mainly – though a few other reds and greens are also used).
Velvet cheer birthday card
Start with an A6 portrait card of Shaded Spruce. Mat with a card front layer of Tidings of Christmas DSP. Using the Stitched Rectangle dies, die cut a large rectangle from Basic White. Stamp the dress from the Delivering Cheer set towards the bottom of the panel with Memento Black ink. Stamp the same image onto a scrap of the Red Velvet Paper with Black Stazon ink and fussy cut out the skirt. Use Stampin’ Blends to colour the legs and the shoes on the stamped panel version. Adhere the fussy cut skirt over the top.
Using Memento Black ink, stamp the stack of gifts fully onto Basic White card and then onto some scraps of Gingerbread & Peppermint DSP. Colour the arms and some of the gifts with Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut and paper piece others. Fussy cut out the coloured and pieced stamping and pop it up on dimensionals over the top of the skirt. Stamp the sentiment from Art Gallery at the top pf the panel with Memento Black ink. Pop the panel up on the card front with dimensionals. Die cut two small poinsettias from Red Velvet with the Poinsettia dies. Curl the petals and adhere together offsetting the petals. Adhere to the bottom right of the panel and finish the centre of the flower with a Holiday Rhinestone.

Velvet cheer birthday card insert
On the Basic White insert, using Poppy Parade ink, stamp a sentiment from the Biggest Wish stamp set. Add another sentiment below with Shaded Spruce ink. Finish with a border of Tidings of Christmas DSP.
