Tutorial for stocking Christmas card

December 11, 2021

Today’s tutorial is for a stocking Christmas card. Again, we’re adding a pop of shimmer to our background paper and to the main image, with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, as we did in a more summery card here.

Unfortunately the Stocking dies I used here have sold out now. At the moment you can still get the stamps and the DSP. We currently have a Last Chance sale with the opportunity to save up to 50% on certain retiring products. The Sweet Little Stockings set used below, is reduced by 50%, to just £10 at the time of writing but it could have sold out by the time you read this.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the stocking Christmas card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Colour Combo

The colour combo mixes Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Crumb Cake.

Start with an A6 portrait card of Cherry Cobbler. Cut a card front layer of Sweet Stockings DSP and paint the white segments of the stockings with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (see the video below). Once dry, adhere direct to a mat of Old Olive card and then direct to the card front. Using Memento Black ink, stamp the small stocking, dog’s head and hat from the Sweet Little Stockings set, onto scraps of Basic White card. Colour with Blends and add the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush over any remaining white areas. Once dry, fussy cut out (or use the co-ordinating dies if you’ve already bought them). Die cut a panel from Old Olive card using the Hippo & Friends dies. Pop the panel up on the card front with dimensionals. Pop the stocking, dog’s head and hat up on the panel with dimensionals.

Here’s a quick video showing how to glitter up your patterned paper with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel for future quick tips and quick cards.

You can probably see it better in the video (it doesn’t show so well in static shots) but here is a close up of the painted shimmer areas.

On the Basic White insert, using Cherry Cobbler ink, stamp a sentiment from the Stocking stamp set. Add the two gifts along the base with Memento Black ink. Colour the gifts with Blends and Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
