Tutorial for quick Catching Butterflies card

February 8, 2022

Today’s tutorial is for a quick Catching Butterflies card. The Catching Butterflies stamp set is free with a £45 purchase during Sale-a-bration. This is a great stamp set with a mix of images and sentiments that can stand alone. The images can be simply stamped but are great fun to colour in with whatever you prefer to use (eg. markers, blends, pencils).

Each week over on my Facebook page (please pop over and Like or Follow) I choose a product pick of the week to feature. This week, it’s the Catching Butterflies stamp set. I’ll have a selection of tutorials for you throughout the week that share different ideas for these stamps.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the quick Catching Butterflies card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything anything you don’t already own (the order code for the Catching Butterflies stamp set is 158108).

Colour Combo

The colour combo mixes Highland Heather, Blushing Bride and Real Red, (however the pink and red are only in the DSP so you only really need the purple).

Start with an A6 portrait card of Highland Heather. Cut a card front layer (3-7/8″ x 5-1/2″) of Sweet Talk DSP and adhere direct to the card front. Cut one 2″ x 2″ square and two 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ squares from Basic White card. On the larger square, stamp the girl using Memento Black ink. (See the video below for positioning). Colour with Highland Heather and Crumb Cake Blends. Using Memento Black ink, stamp a sentiment from the set onto one of the smaller squares and the cluster of butterflies on the other. Colour the butterflies with Highland Heather Blends. Mat the stamped squares onto squares of Highland Heather card (one 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ and two 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″). Pop the sentiment and butterflies up on dimensionals in the right hand side corners. Pop the girl up on the left side, overlapping the other squares slightly.

Here’s a short video showing how this quick card comes together. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel to see my quick cards and quick tips each week.
