Tutorial for floating circle retirement card

June 17, 2022

Today’s tutorial is for a floating circle retirement card. This card uses the floating strip technique to create a sunset background for the silhouetted palm trees. Although the Paradise Palms stamps and dies are available separately in the new Annual Catalogue, you only have until 30 June to snag the 10% discount when buying them as a bundle.

This was one of the make and takes at a recent Paper Dolls meeting.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the floating circle retirement card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything anything you don’t already own.

Start with an A6 portrait card of Basic Black. Cut a card front layer of Basic White. Using Memento Black ink, stamp a sentiment from the Paradise Palms set at the base of the layer. Adhere direct to the card front. Cut thin strips of card in Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight. Die cut out with Layering Circles (see the video below) and pop up on the card with dimensionals. Die cut the palm tree and grass from Basic Black card with the Palms dies. Trim the palm tree so that it will fit over the circle. Adhere the tree and grass over the circle, supporting any overhanging sections with slivers of dimensional.

On the Basic White insert, using Memento ink, stamp a sentiment from the Paradise Palms stamp set. Stamp the trio of palm trees from the same set in the lower left corner.

Here’s another version of the same card using the birthday sentiments from the same Paradise Palms set.
