Tutorial for Silver DSP emboss resist card

August 12, 2022

Today’s tutorial is for a Silver DSP emboss resist card. This time we’re adding colour to the white and silver design with inky blending brushes.

The Gold and Silver DSP is free with a £45 purchase during Sale-a-bration.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the Silver DSP emboss resist card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own (the order code for the Gold and Silver DSP is 159941).

Start with an A6 portrait card of Parakeet Party. Mat with Shaded Spruce card. Cut a 3-5/8″ x 5-1/4″ card front layer of Silver DSP. Prepare the DSP with an Embossing Buddy to ensure that the surface is fully dry and oil free. Using the Stamparatus, stamp the sentiment from the Biggest Wish using Versamark ink. Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and pour away any excess. If there are any loose specks of powder that are not part of the sentiment, brush these away with the Crafting Brush. Use a Heat Tool to set the powder, moving on to the next section as soon as the powder turns glossy. Allow to cool for a few minutes.

Using a Blending Brush and Shaded Spruce ink, add ink lightly and in a circular motion over the embossed sentiment. Wipe away and excess ink sat on top of the embossing with a piece of kitchen towel. Continue to build up the blended ink until you have the darkness you want. Switch Blending Brush and with Parakeet Party ink, work outward from the Shaded Spruce, blending the two inks together. Continue to wipe away the excess ink with kitchen towel. Allow to dry fully on a flat surface (if the DSP has warped or buckled with inking it will flatten out again as it dries). Adhere the DSP direct to the front of the card. Finish with a bow of Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon and a trio of Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins.

Here’s a short video walking you through the emboss resist technique and sharing a few extra tips. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel to see my quick cards and quick tips each week.

On the inside, using Shaded Spruce ink, stamp a sentiment from the Biggest Wish set. Stamp crosses as kisses below the sentiment. Add a border of Shaded Spruce card along the base.

Thanks for stopping by.
