Today’s tutorial is for a Harvest Leaf birthday card. This time I’m using one of the black and white designs of the Rustic Harvest DSP as a background for the Leaf Label feature.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the Harvest Leaf birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Colour Combo

This colour combo mixes Crumb Cake, Basic Black and Basic White.

Harvest Leaf birthday card

Start with an A6 portrait card of Crumb Cake. Mat with Rustic Harvest DSP. Using Stylish Shapes dies, die cut two layering stitched squares, one of Crumb Cake and one of Basic White card. Stamp a sentiment from the Cottage Rose set onto the Basic White square with Memento Black ink. Adhere the White square direct to the Crumb Cake square.

Prepare a Leaf Label with an Embossing Buddy to ensure that the surface is fully dry and oil free. Stamp another sentiment from the Cottage Rose set onto the leaf using Versamark ink. Cover with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and pour away any excess. If there are any loose specks of powder that are not part of the sentiment, brush these away with the Crafting Brush. Use a Heat Tool to set the powder, moving on to the next section as soon as the powder turns glossy. Allow to cool for a few minutes.

Attach the leaf to the squares with a Square Brad. Pop the layered squares up on the card front with dimensionals. Add an Amber Gem to the top of the Square Brad to finish.

On the inside, using Memento Black ink, stamp another sentiment from the Cottage Rose set. Add a border of Rustic Harvest DSP along the base.

Swing the leaf to one side to reveal the hidden message.
