Today’s tutorial is for a Charming Florets birthday card. This uses a similar layout from the quick Florets Christmas card but upsizes the oval and adds a little glitz of glimmer paper.
I love that these papers have a similar floral pattern with both a light and a dark background. The elements are also sized a little smaller in the lighter pattern. Putting the two together on a card makes for quick and easy designing.
In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the Charming Florets birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.
Colour Combo
This colour combo mixes Night of Navy, Evening Evergreen and Balmy Blue.
Charming Florets birthday card
Start with an A6 portrait card of Night of Navy. Mat the lower card front with a layer (3-7/8″ x 3-1/4″) of darker patterned Fitting Florets DSP. Mat the upper card front with a layer (3-7/8″ x 2-1/4″) of lighter patterned Fitting Florets DSP. Use the ridged oval from the Framed Florets dies to die cut an outer oval from Basic White card and an inner oval from Evening Evergreen Glimmer Paper. (Tip – I die cut the full oval from each and kept the alternate inner and outer for other projects).
Position the inner inside the outer and apply dimensionals over the join all around the ovals before popping them up on the card front. Using Night of Navy ink, stamp a sentiment from the Charming Sentiments set onto a scrap of Basic White card. Die cut out with the matching dies. Pop the sentiment up in the centre of the ovals with mini dimensionals. (Tip – I add Multi-purpose Liquid Glue to the back of the dimensionals to help them stick more strongly to the Glimmer Paper). Finish with Gold Adhesive-Backed Swirls in the centres of the Balmy Blue flowers.
