New colour combos – day 7 – Balmy Blue

August 17, 2018

Day 7 of our new and returning colour focus, where I’m sharing projects that showcase one of these additions to the Stampin’ Up! colour families and suggesting a possible colour combination.

Our colour today is Balmy Blue. This brand new colour is a pretty, delicate light blue.

I’ve combined it with our existing Garden Green and Smoky Slate for a slightly dreamy quality. I might also have included a sneak peek of some great DSP coming next month, just for hostesses 😉

The card base is an A6 portrait of Smoky Slate, matted with Balmy Blue. A layer of Dashing Along DSP (hostess sneak peek) was sponged around the edges with Garden Green ink on a Sponge Dauber before adhering direct to the card front. Using Garden Green ink again, the solid frond leaf from Painted Harvest was stamped onto a panel of Whisper White and the solid trio of leaves was stamped onto scraps of Whisper White, all were stamped off first for a lighter look. The detail frond and trio of leaves from the same set were then stamped over the top of the originals at full strength. Using the Leaf punch the trios were punched out and the frond leaf was die cut out with a Stitched Shapes oval. Selective inking was used to create the sentiment, stamping onto Whisper White with Balmy Blue ink and die cutting out with another size of Stitched Shapes oval. Both stamped ovals were adhered to Layering Ovals die cut from Balmy Blue card. These were then popped up on the card front, tucking the punched leaves underneath. Balmy Blue ink was used to stamp the solid flower ring, then the detail flower ring over the top and finally Smoky Slate ink was used to stamp a further detail flower ring over the top. The solid flower centre was stamped in Smoky Slate ink and then the spots over the top with Balmy Blue ink. After fussy cutting out, the flower was popped up on the card front with dimensionals. Basic Rhinestones were used to finish the card front.

On the Whisper White insert, the detailed flower ring was stamped down the right edge with Balmy Blue ink, stamping only a portion of the image.

Thanks for stopping by.

Have a great weekend.
