Tutorial for Delicate Dahlias sympathy card

August 20, 2021

Today’s tutorial is for a Delicate Dahlias sympathy card. This pretty floral stamp set includes a sympathy sentiment, among others. I prefer to make this type of card in advance rather than when there is a need and so the sentiment prompted the card.

It combines the outline dahlia used on this birthday card with the solid dahlia used on this thank you card. The stamp set is free with a £90 purchase during Sale-a-bration.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the Delicate Dahlias sympathy card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own (the order code for the Delicate Dahlias is 156601).

Start with an A6 portrait card of Blackberry Bliss. Mat with a card front layer of Bumble Bee card. Cut a card front layer of Basic White. Using Rich Razzleberry ink, stamp the outline large dahlia from the Delicate Dahlias set over on the left side of the White layer. Stamp the same image onto a post-it note or similar and fussy cut out to create a mask.

Mask off the original stamped dahlia and stamp further dahlias above and below, including more of the image. Using Bumble Bee ink, ink up the solid large dahlia. Sponge Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss inks, moving out from the centre. Stamp over the original images, cleaning, reinking and masking as needed. With the top and bottom dahlias masked, stamp the solid trio of leaves at the side using Old Olive ink. Using Rich Razzleberry ink, stamp the sentiment from the Delicate Dahlias set in the negative space in the centre. Adhere the layer direct to the card front.

Here’s the quick tip video explaining how to sponge the solid dahlias (and also how to line the solid and outline images). Please subscribe to my Youtube channel for future quick tips and quick cards.

On the Basic White insert, stamp a sentiment from the Prized Peony set using Rich Razzleberry ink. Add a narrow border of Harvest Meadow DSP down the right side and then add a skinny strip of Blackberry Bliss card against it.

Thanks for stopping by.
