Today’s tutorial is for a Windmill Fields birthday card. The pop-out centre panel features a windmill with sails that really turn!
In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the Windmill Fields birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything anything you don’t already own.
This was one of the make and take projects at one of our Paper Dolls team meetings. If you’d like to know more about joining the team then please get in touch.
Colour Combo
The colour combo mixes Pool Party, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake.
Windmill Fields birthday card
Start with an 8-1/4″ x 5-7/8″ base card of Pool Party. Score along the long edge at 1-3.4″, 2-7/8″, 5-3/8″ and 6-1/2″. Valley fold the two outer scorelines and mountain fold the inner two scorelines. From the same pattern of Flowering Fields DSP, cut two 1-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ panels and adhere direct to the two outer sections of the card front. Cut a 2-1/4″ square of the same pattern again and adhere direct to the lower half of the centre section of the card front. Add a 2-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ panel of the cloud pattern above it.
Using the Windmill Fields dies, die cut a solid windmill from Crumb Cake card and the detailed windmill from Soft Suede. Adhere together. Die cut the windmill sails from Early Espresso card. Fasten the sails to the windmill with one of the Round & Square Brads, leaving enough play to allow the sails to turn. Pop the windmill up on the card front with dimensionals. Using Memento Black ink, stamp a sentiment from the Flowering Tulips stamp set onto a panel of Basic White. Mat onto Old Olive card and pop up on the card front beneath the windmill.
Here’s a short video sharing a few ideas for cards that move (including this one). Please subscribe to my Youtube channel to see my quick cards and quick tips each week. Cards that move was also the theme of our IDEAS tutorial blog hop this month.
Windmill Fields birthday card insert
On a 2-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ centre panel insert of Basic White card, stamp a sentiment from Hello Beautiful set with Memento Black ink. Stamp the smaller windmill from the Tulip Fields stamp set in the lower left corner with Soft Suede ink.
