Today’s tutorial is for a woven strips Christmas card. I’ve kept it simple by using wide strips and just two of each metal, but you could go thinner and use more of them if you feel brave!
The Brushed Metallic cardstock is currently out of stock but you could make a similar card using only Gold Foil if you can’t wait for supplies to come back in.
In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the woven strips Christmas card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.
Colour Combo
This colour combo mixes Merry Merlot, Metallic Copper and Metallic Gold.
Woven strips Christmas card
Start with an A6 landscape card of Merry Merlot. Cut a 5-1/2″ x 3-7/8″ card front layer of Very Vanilla. Prepare the layer with an Embossing Buddy to ensure that the surface is fully dry and oil free. Stamp the sentiment from the Brightest Glow set using Versamark ink. Cover with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and pour away any excess. If there are any loose specks of powder that are not part of the sentiment, brush these away with the Crafting Brush. Use a Heat Tool to set the powder, moving on to the next section as soon as the powder turns glossy. Allow to cool for a few minutes.
Cut 1/2″ strips of each of the Brushed Metallic card and trim one set to 5-1/2″ and one set to 3-7/8″. Interweave the strips (see the video) and adhere direct to the card front layer. Adhere the layers direct to the card front.
I made a boo-boo! Did you spot my mistake? I arranged the strips dark to light going downward but then forgot to check them as I worked side to side 🤦 I didn’t spot it until after I’d photographed the finished project.
Here’s a short video showing how to weave the strips. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel to see my quick cards and quick tips each week.
Woven strips Christmas card insert
On the Very Vanilla insert, using Merry Merlot ink, stamp another sentiment from the Brightest Glow set. Add a tiny tree from the Christmas Lights set in the bottom right corner.
