Create a cupcake birthday card

Today’s birthday card is to play along with a SUDSOL CASE challenge.

This is the card to be CASEd:

And surprisingly (very surprising if you know me 🙂 ) I don’t have these items (though the embossing folder is en route even now, lol). But that’s the great thing  about CASEing, you simply substitute what you do have … and so I came up with this:

create a cupcake

The card base is an A6 landscape of Raspberry Ripple, matted with Crisp Cantaloupe card that was run through the Big Shot in the Houndstooth embossing folder (123134). Two pieces of Birthday Basics DSP (130145) was die cut with one of the large Banner framelits (132173) and adhered to the card front. A sentiment and the small flower motif from Create a Cupcake (Wood 128520 or Clear 121982) were stamped onto Very Vanilla card with Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green inks, using a Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049) for positioning. The stamped images were then die cut with the smallest of the Banner framelits and popped up on the card front with dimensionals. Summer Starfruit ink was used to stamp a cupcake base from the same stamp set and then the bow stamped over the top in Gumball Green. The cupcake frosting was stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe ink and sprinkles overstamped with Raspberry Ripple ink. Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green inks were used for the cherry. The Cupcake (121807) was used to punch out the individual pieces which were then popped up on dimensionals on the card front. Finally, a Subtles Designer Button (130030) was tied with Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine (125573) and secured with glue dots to the card front.

On the Very Vanilla insert, another sentiment from the Create a Cupcake set was stamped in Raspberry Ripple ink and candles and a cupcake (to match the one on the front) were stamped direct to the insert.

Hope you’re having a great bank holiday weekend.

Sara xx
