I couldn’t resist the Sea Street stamp set because I think the octopus has got such a cute smile. It’s definitely a friendly octopus and although it’s perfect for kids cards I can see me using it for adult cards too.
The bonus is that there are plenty of other great stamps in the set too. The rope, anchor and the flags will work well for masculine cards. There’s also a school of fish, a group of starfish, a lobster and a crab, for any other sea themed projects.
Here’s how I used it today.
The card base is a small square of Soft Sky (3-1/2″ square so that it still fits an envelope for a 4″ square card with the overhanging banner). Pool Party ink was used to stamp the flags from the Sea Street set and then Island Indigo ink for the rope from the same set. A Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049) was used to extend the stamps across the full width of the card, keeping them in a straight line. The sentiment from Something to Say was stamped in Island Indigo ink onto a thin strip of Whisper White card. After trimming the ends to a banner, this was adhered across the card front, in between the stamping. The octopus was stamped in Calypso Coral onto Whisper White card and fussy cut out. It was popped up on dimensionals on the card front and Dazzling Details (124117) added over the suckers on its tentacles.
On the inside, another sentiment from Something to Say was stamped in Island Indigo ink and the starfish from the Sea Street set were stamped in Calypso Coral.
Hope you have a great weekend.
