Sale-a-bration for men’s cards

February 16, 2012

male elegance close up

Where do I start today? Well I needed a birthday card for a male friend and so I figured I’d challenge myself to use one of the Sale-a-bration sets to make it. As I’ve pointed out before, the Elementary Elegance set has a few small images that mirror some of the Artistic Etchings stamps and so I thought they’d make a good combo. I’m sending the card through the post and so I kept most of the layers flat.

The colour combo was selected from the Color Coach and I set to work.

Recipe
Stamp set: Elementary Elegance (W125120 or C125122) (Free Sale-a-bration set), Artistic Etchings (W118517 or C120573)
Cardstock: Baja Breeze (116207), Cherry Cobbler (121681), Basic Black (121688), Whisper White (106549)
Ink: Basic Black (101179), Cherry Cobbler (119669), Baja Breeze (111833)
SU Markers: Basic Black (100082), Cherry Cobbler (119701)
Punches: Curly Label (119851), Decorative Label (120907)
Other: Basic Rhinestones (119246)
Tools: Sponge Daubers (102892), Color Spritzer (107066)

The card base is an A6 landscape of Basic Black. A mat of Baja Breeze was stamped in the centre with the frame from the Elementary Elegance set in Basic Black ink and the centre was punched out with the Curly Label. The small crown and key from the same set were stamped randomly over the rest of the mat with Baja Breeze ink and all the edges were sponged with Basic Black ink. After stamping the Birthday sentiment in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card the small crown was stamped at a jaunty angle in Cherry Cobbler ink. Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler markers were used in the Color Spritzer Tool to add a little distressing to the sentiment before it was added behind the frame with dimensionals. Dimensionals were also used between the stamped card front and the Cherry Cobbler mat which was sponged around the edges with Basic Black ink before adhering it direct to the card front. The large key and crown from the Artistic Etchings set were stamped in Basic Black ink onto Baja Breeze card and punched out with the Curly Label. Each was distressed as before with sponging and spritzing and then adhered direct to a Decorative Label punched from Cherry Cobbler card and sponged with Basic Black ink. These were adhered direct to the card front on either side of the frame. The front was finished with a single small Rhinestone in the centre of the sentiment’s crown.

And …

… I really like this Sale-a-bration card and want to be able to share it with my hostesses and their guests over the next few weeks so …

…  I haven’t sent it. My friend is getting another male card that I dug out of my craft fair sales box (whoops, am I bad!) Laughing
