Large Climbing Orchid card

August 23, 2017

Back to birthdays today and this large (A5) card was to celebrate my Mum’s birthday, which was yesterday (so I’m safe to share it now 🙂 ). Apologies for the rather larger number of products used than usual, as it’s my Mum’s card I like to make it a bit more special and that usually means a few more elements.

The Climbing Orchid stamp set has two different size flowers (plus buds), two different petal patterns (in both sizes) and both full and decoupage layers allowing for a huge amount of diversity in finished orchids, especially when you add in the different colour combinations you can use. It’s also available as a bundle with the Orchid Builder framelits, so you can quickly die cut out all the stamped layers and save 10% when you buy the two together.

The card base is an A5 (i.e. a whole sheet of A4 folded only once) of Berry Burst card. A card front layer of Sahara Sand was covered with a Pattern Party Decorative Mask and Embossing Paste mixed with a little Cajun Craze ink (mixed direct on the Silicone Craft Sheet) was applied with a Palette Knife and left to dry. This layer was adhered direct to a layer of Chocolate Chip card, wrapped with shaped Copper Trim on one corner and adhered direct to the card front. More Copper Trim was tied in a bow, shaped and adhered in place with Mini Glue Dots. As this canvas is larger than usual, then rather than using the branch stamps from the Climbing Orchid stamp set, branches were die cut from Chocolate Chip card with the die from Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  These were trimmed where needed and adhered direct to the card front. Various petals and buds from the Climbing Orchid set were stamped onto Whisper White card with Berry Burst ink and die cut out with the co-ordinating Orchid Builder Framelits. The flower centres were stamped with Crushed Curry ink, overstamped with the detail stamps with Berry Burst ink and die cut out. The orchids were assembled and popped up on the card front with dimensionals and the centres popped up with mini dimensionals. A sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous was stamped in Berry Burst ink onto Whisper White card and die cut out with a Layering Oval. This was popped up onto a Stitched Shape oval die cut from Berry Burst card and both were popped up on more dimensionals on the card front. Glitter Enamel Dots were added to the card front to finish.

On the Whisper White insert another sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and another orchid from Climbing Orchid were stamped in Berry Burst ink.

Thanks for stopping by.
