Hanging up a birthday dress

April 12, 2013

You may have noticed that I’ve had a bit of a product focus on the Cute Clips this week. My personal favourite of the two sets is the Hung Up (with the arrow, thought bubble and coat hanger). That hanger gives me another excuse for playing Dress Up with the framelits again Laughing

Take a closer look at the Twitterpated background I’ve used on this card, the one with the fancy fan repeat design – it’s Blushing Bride, one of the returning In Colors that will become a core colour, available again from 1 July. On the other hand, the jacket, dress and the ribbon along the bottom of the card are Riding Hood Red – one of the colours that will be discontinued and stocks of these are only available while supplies last. You can read more about the colour changes and please email me if you want to order any colour products before they go.

The card base is an A6 portrait of Crumb Cake. Twitterpated DSP (125406) was matted onto Early Espresso card and wrapped with Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon (122988) before adhering the layers to the front of the card. A bow of matching ribbon was adhered with  Mini Glue Dot. The scallop bottom dress was die cut from Twitterpated DSP with the one of the Dress Up framelits (130101)*. To get the jacket, the other dress from the same framelits set was die cut from Riding Hood Red card, the skirt was cut off and the top cut in two down the centre. Buttonholes were added to one side with the 1/16″ Circle Handheld punch (101227) and the teeniest Basic Pearls (119247) were added to the other side as buttons. A Hung Up Cute Clips (129389) hanger was adhered behind the dress and then the dress and the jacket were each popped up on dimensionals on the front of the card. The partial sentiment from the matching All Dressed Up stamp set (W129171 or C129174)* was stamped in Riding Hood Red ink onto Whisper White card and punched out with the Word Window (119857), it was matted onto a Modern Label (119849) of Early Espresso card and popped up with more dimensionals.

* The stamp set and framelits can also be bought together as the All Dressed Up Bundle (W131096 or C131095), saving you 15%!

Inside, another half of one of the other sentiments was stamped in Riding Hood Red onto a Whisper White insert. A strip of the same Twitterpated DSP used for the dress on the front, was adhered along the bottom. Finally, to cover a smudge of ink that I’d got on the insert (whoops Embarassed), an Itty Bitty Shapes (118309) punched flower of Riding Hood Red was topped with another Basic Pearl.

Have a great weekend.
