Telescoping snowman Christmas card

December 19, 2013

I like to make my downline (those people that joined Stampin’ Up! directly through me) a slightly more special Christmas card and this year it’s been this telescoping snowman card.

This is a mix of different versions of the card that I saw on Pinterest. The little snowman starts off a little squat and fat …

… but if you pull gently on his hat then he extends beyond the top of the card to become a tall snowman!

The card base is a small square of Marina Mist  and the small snowflake from Warmth & Wonder (Wood 131880 or Clear 131883) was stamped in Craft White ink to create the background. Circles Collection framelits (130911) were used to cut the snowman from Whisper White card. The bank of snow were torn from strips of Whisper White card and the snowballs were punched from more of the same with the Circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack (118309). All were sponged around the edges with a mix of Marina Mist ink and Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz (118772) (it has some sparkle in real life). The scarf was punched from Sweater Weather DSP (132184) with the 1-3/8″ Circle (119860) and the Word Window (119857) and his hat punched from Basic Black card with the 1″ Square (124094) and the Word Window, topped with a sliver of Silver Glimmer Paper (124005). Rosy cheeks were applied with Pink Pirouette ink and a cotton bud and eyes and mouth drawn on with a marker and catchlights added to the eyes with a Signo White gel pen (105021). Half a Small Heart (117193) was punched from Pumpkin Pie card for his nose. Finally Mini Brads (122941) were used to pin him all together before popping up on the card front.

The Paper Dolls will be having a crafty get together 1pm-3pm, on Sunday 12 January, at St Saviours Church Hall, so if you’d like to come along and find out more about joining the team then please let me know so that we have an idea of how many to expect.
