Mini cards with a sneak peek

December 6, 2018

A little sad at today’s share but I’m sure that I’m not the only one with this need and so I decided to include these cards for you after all.

December would have been the month for both my Grandma and Grandad’s birthdays and my Mum always goes to put flowers or a plant in the chapel for each of them at this time of year. Space is very limited and so she asked me to make her a couple of mini birthday cards to go with them.

I didn’t originally plan to share these here and so I used a mix of new (not yet out), existing and retired items. The sneak peek Piece of Cake stamp set is soooo useful and I predict that it will be a big hit when it launches (it has a co-ordinating cake builder punch too)! For the retired items I’ve included suggestions for alternatives.

The card base is a 3″ x 3″ square of Calypso Coral matted with Share What You Love DSP. A sentiment and small flower image from Piece of Cake (from the Spring/Summer catalogue launching 3 January) were stamped with Calypso Coral ink onto a Stitched Shape Oval die cut from Whisper White card. The sentiment was extended using letters from Make a Difference in the same ink and a Blender Pen was used to shade the flowers before matting the oval onto a Layering Oval of Calypso Coral card and then popping it up on the card front with dimensionals. A flower and leaf were die cut from more Calypso Coral and Mint Macaron card respectively using Snowfall thinlits (Petals & More thinlits are another option) and popped up on the card front with a mini dimensional. The flower was finished with a Basic Rhinestone.

The card base this time is a 3″ x 3″ square of Early Espresso matted with Wood Textures DSP. A Stitched Shape square was die cut from Whisper White card and stamped with a sentiment/image from Piece of Cake (from the Spring/Summer catalogue launching 3 January) with Early Espresso ink then the cake was masked and candles from the same set were stamped above (the masking allowed the candles to be shorter to fit inside the square. The square was then popped up on the card front with dimensionals. Dad was stamped onto a wooden star using letters from Make a Difference and Early Espresso ink and this was then popped up on the card front with dimensionals. Although we no longer stock these particular wooden elements you could get a similar effect by using a small die cut shape and another shade of the Wood Textures DSP.

Of course these mini cards could easily serve as gift tags given their small size.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sara xx
