Piece of Cake birthday card

January 4, 2019

Stamp set and punch bundles are a great way for new crafters to take their skills up a notch, without too much effort or outlay. Punched pieces offer the chance for layers and dimension, giving the card more interest.

One of the great new bundles on offer in the Spring Summer catalogue is the Piece of Cake bundle. This set includes 21 stamps, with 6 different styles of cake, cake accessories and 10 sentiments covering birthday and wedding and suitable for both card fronts and inserts.

Colour combination mixing Night of Navy, Petal Pink and Grapefruit Grove, all from Stampin' Up!

The colour combo here is Night of Navy, Grapefruit Grove and Petal Pink.

The card base is an A6 portrait of Night of Navy. A strip of Garden Impressions DSP was adhered direct to the left side of a card front layer of Petal Pink card. A skinny strip of Grapefruit Grove Foil was added to the edge of the DSP before adhering the layers direct to the card front. Using Memento Black ink a sentiment and the candles from the Piece of Cake set were stamped onto the card front. More Memento Black ink was used to stamp a cake and stand onto Whisper White card. These were coloured with Stampin’ Blends in Night of Navy, Calypso Coral and Petal Pink and using the Colour Lifter for shading. The cake and stand were punched out with the Cake Builder punch, teeny tiny strips of Grapefruit Grove Foil were added as “cake ribbons” and the cake and stand popped up on the card front with mini dimensionals.

Insert using Piece of Cake stamps with Foil edge (SAB freebie)

On the Whisper White insert, two more sentiments and the flower spray from the same Cake Builder set were stamped in Memento Black ink. Blends in Calypso Coral and Petal Pink were used to colour the flowers. A strip of Garden Impressions DSP was adhered direct to the right side of the insert and a skinny strip of Grapefruit Grove Foil was added to the edge of the DSP.

Thanks for stopping by.
