Heirloom Tropical Chic

April 28, 2020

This Heirloom Tropical Chic birthday card has an interlocking gatefold design. It’s actually a card that I made last summer for a friend. I was in the middle of starting up my acupuncture clinic and so I didn’t get around to sharing this project. There’s another one or two more like that, that I’ll try to share before the products used retire.

Retiring products are available until 2 June or while supplies last. Some products will sell out quickly. If a product picture is missing or the link (below the post) won’t work it is most likely because that item has sold out. Please don’t delay if there’s an item you still want.

The Heirloom Frames set (retiring) also has a rectangle as well as this oval. Check this Sailing Home card to see the rectangle style.

INSTRUCTIONS

Heirloom Tropical Chic

Start with an A6 portrait gatefold card of Cajun Craze. Run two panels of Grapefruit Grove card* through the Scripty embossing folder and adhere them direct to the card front. Die cut and emboss an oval of Cajun Craze card with the Heirloom Frames Dies And 3D Embossing Folder set*. On a smaller Whisper White Stitched Shapes oval die cut, stamp a sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays with Cajun Craze ink. Tip – I cut apart my sentiment so that it will fit into a narrower space. Using Shaded Spruce ink, stamp leaves from the Tropical Chic set* around the sentiment. Ink the flower from the same set with Crushed Curry ink and then use a Sponge Dauber to add a little Cajun Craze ink around the edges. Stamp the flower onto the sentiment oval.

* retiring products – get them before they’re gone!

Heirloom Tropical Chic

Adhere only the left half of the embossed oval to the left hand side gatefold front using dimensionals. (Note – Take care not to add any to the right hand side or you will fasten your card closed. Remember that the left and right sides are swapped when working on the reverse). Adhere only the right hand half of the stamped oval to the right hand side gatefold front using dimensionals. Ink and stamp another flower as before, onto a scrap of Whisper White card. Die cut out with the matching Tropical Dies*. Die cut two leaves from the same set, from Shaded Spruce card. Adhere the flower and leaves to the bottom of the oval frame.

On the Whisper White insert, stamp another sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays using Cajun Craze ink. Add a flower and leaves from the Tropical Chic set using the inks and method used for the sentiment label on the front.

Thanks for stopping by.
