Tutorial for plush Christmas box

November 14, 2020

Today’s tutorial is for a plush Christmas box. This box is small and light enough to hang from a Christmas tree.

Use a regular flower instead of holly to decorate the tag and it becomes a year round mini gift box which would work perfectly with this birthday card.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the plush Christmas box. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Vellum of any kind tends to show adhesive through it. This Mini Curvy Keepsake box design is perfect, as it all folds and slots together, without any need for adhesive.

If you do need tips for adhering vellum, I shared some yesterday. Please hop over to my Facebook page or Youtube channel to check out the video and Like/Follow/Subscribe for further tips in the future. Thanks!

Die cut a Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box from Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper. Fold and assemble the box. Die cut a small round label from a scrap of Whisper White card using a die from the same Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box set. Using Shaded Spruce ink, stamp the tiny holly image from the Tag Buffet set onto the label. Colour with Blends and add All the Trimmings Embellishments as the holly berries. Tie the label onto the box with Sheer Red Ribbon.

Mini Christmas tag tip

Blends, by their nature bleed through to the back of Whisper White card. This is not a mistake, if the card is not saturated enough with the ink to bleed through, then the colours will not blend together.

Many times when using Blends this effect will not matter because you won’t see the back of the colouring but in this case it may be more evident.

I chose to add another, plain Whisper White label to the back of the tag to hide the colouring (and also provide a space to indicate who it’s for).

Now this is only a dinky box, just big enough for a single large chocolate, or maybe a couple of smaller ones.

Thanks for stopping by.
